Short Review:
Again I seem to have a thing for dark fantasies! I wasn't sure I would like this book going in, and maybe that's why it seemed to start slow, but as soon as things started to unravel for the two main characters I was instantly hooked! I loved how the author used both the two main characters, and each of the side characters to both set the tone, and the pace of this book. In Verity there are two sides, the North owned my rich, selfish, human Harker, and the South controlled by the FTF military force who in some ways are scene as the 'heros' who fight for good and peace. The catch? Both have ties to the 'monsters' but in very different ways.

Blood Sacrifice (The Blood Sisters Book 3)

Blood Sacrifice (The Blood Sisters Book 3) - Jill Cooper *I received a free ecopy from the author in exchange for my honest, unbiased review* Thank you!

Join the Blood sisters and Duncan again at they work together to find a way to save Amanda, and Duncan! With surprises and challenges, this was another fun read. While I found it slightly more predictable, I did enjoy it, and still recommend it. The last part was my favorite (fangirl squeals!) but I really enjoyed seeing the characters work together to once again defeat the forces of evil from taking over the world, and taking them with it!

Ice Island

Ice Island - Sherry Shahan Cover: Pretty!

Short review:
While I really enjoyed this story, it has one of those endings that leave you with more questions that answers, which I hated. It was a fun read, and a quick in-between for me. It's nice to get away from the usual, and I have always loved stories about dog-sleds, and the adventure they promise. In that this story did not disappoint! A fun story about two children who have only each-other and their dogs to survive. While this is a middle grade read, it was detailed and well informed both about dog-sleds, and about life in Alaska, a great educational aspect that makes this book even more valuable to young readers.

The Most Magnificent Thing

The Most Magnificent Thing - Ashley Spires *I received an ecopy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest, unbiased review*

I love the message, and this story tells it in a fun way. While this can be seen as empowering for girls especially, I think this is a great message for all children. The little girl in this book can be viewed as both an engineer, and an artist, and uses her creativity to make something useful. She tries one way, and then another, but it doesn't seem quite right. The beauty of this book, it just when the character wants to give up, she is encouraged to look again. I also enjoyed that her assistant was her dog, as many children are close to their pets, and can easily relate. Something all schools should have, this is a fun story with a great message for people of all ages!

Trigger Warning: This story deals with depression/mental illness and cutting

Short Review:
This is one of the best warrior/ability stories I have read. I also loved how it both mentioned and handles mental illness, something that many teens and young adults deal with. In this story there is so much going on at once, it seemed to fly by! I loved learning the secrets and surprises that the characters reveal and encounter, while also seeing how things developed between each of the characters. Dealing with many difficult issues in one story, there are parts that seem to jump, or that are rushed, but I think it turned out well overall and I've super excited to be starting the next book!

Note: The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it does seem slightly rushed in places, and more than that I have a feeling the next two are going to be better! (This may be changed to 5 stars once I finish reading the other two)

Short Review:
I loved this book! I loved how the blurb sounded, and was excited to start it, but it was even better than I expected! Such a beautifully written YA fantasy, it reads much like a fairy-tale, and has an ageless old-timey feel that I loved and if classics are to be trusted, many others enjoy too. This story is both about courage and fear, trust and caution, hopes and doubts. I can't wait to see that else Ms. Stump comes up with!

Short Review:
When I first started this book, I wasn't really what to expect, but I would have been wrong anyway. I did enjoy this story, and think it's a great tool to teach kids about racism in the 60s and how to handle them. What I didn't expect it religion is also a big topic in part. I personally didn't mind, but I know how schools are, and I would love to see this one the recommended reading, but I also feel it should be stated up front that it had religious undertones, and I didn't see anything that implied that, so here's your head's up.

Short Review:
So many good books! I loved this one, from the start it was an exciting read, and then there were pirates! XD This is a complex book, with many sides, and the reader gets to see a little of each. It's not until the end that we discover how they connect, and I love how well it was thought out, and how it was written. A fast paced and exciting read that will have you holding your breath in places, it's well worth it for any YA fantasy/adventures fans!
